How to earn it

  1. Open Capital One 360 Checking online, as a new customer.
  2. Use the offer code CHECKING250 when you apply.
  3. Receive at least 2 direct deposits of $500 or more each, totaling $1,000 or more, within 75 days.
  4. Wait for the bank to pay the bonus. Its terms say when it pays once you meet the requirements.

Day counts follow the bank's terms, which say when each period starts.

Payments that count differ by bank: what counts as a direct deposit.

When the bank pays. Capital One reviews the account after the first 75 days and can take up to 60 more days to pay, so the bonus should arrive within 135 days of opening.

Use code CHECKING250 and receive at least two direct deposits of $500 or more each within 75 days. Capital One counts regular income such as pay, a pension or Social Security sent by ACH or the Real-Time Payments network from an employer or another outside payer. Wires, and transfers you start from Capital One's website or app, do not count.

You are excluded if you have had a 360 Checking, Simply Checking or Total Control Checking account with Capital One, as primary or secondary owner, on or after January 1, 2024. An account takes one code, so this offer and the debit card offer are one or the other.

Capital One sets no minimum balance for the bonus, but the account must be open and in good standing when it pays.
